An Exhibition of Vegetable Sculptures

The exhibition of sculptures made from vegetables will be displayed at the back of the church and will complement the Harvest Festival decorations. A Harvest Festival service will be held on Sunday 13th at 11am followed by a harvest lunch in the village hall.

The short courses that she is running are for everyone apart from children, as the techniques are quite tough, and the inks are oily! So adults and young adults are invited to spend quality time for themselves, exploring either the basic techniques, or extending ideas and creativity further so that they can have something they’ve created themselves at the end of the two days.

Fitzhead Children's Art Exhibition with classes for 8 and under, and 9 to 15 years. Children may submit either a painting or piece of craftwork with a Fitzhead theme. Entries by 11am, with afternoon prize giving and BBQ from 3pm.

An evening of discussion and questions on the history and life of Fitzhead. A guest panel of local residents chaired by 10Radio presenter Anton Matthews will invite questions from the audience.

Take time out with you family to meet the challenge of a treasure hunt through the vale of Taunton Deane around the village of Fitzhead. The route covers 3-4 miles (with a shorter version under 2 miles for those with small children).

Willow artist Stefan Jennings will be working with local young people to produce a sculptural seat and shelter in Jubilee Gardens. They will be working with locally sourced willow, hazel and oak using traditional tools and skills. You will be able to view the work in progress, with the grand unveiling at 3pm on Friday.

Cycle Race

The Tour of Britain is the UK's biggest professional bicycle race and a centrepiece of the British sporting calendar, attracting over a million spectators to the roadside in 2008, and hundreds of thousands more on television and via the internet. The Tour passes through Wiveliscombe as part of Stage 6 that runs through Somerset and Devon.
